Unfortunately, the III series does not have BlueTooth, so pairing won't work. Your biggest hurdle in this setup is going to be your cell carrier! Who is it? Most (if not all) have ended DUN support for their phones. I used to connect my IIIc to an older Sony Ericsson T68i via IrDA (Infra-red) to go online, but the phone had an IrDA port on it too. I used a DUN connection with Cingular, but they have ended this option. It still might work with their GPRS options now. Have you upgraded the IIIxe to PalmOS 4.1? That gains a lot of network support. I also connected via a cable to several phones and external modems using a Serial Data Cable into the phone/ a null modem / and a Serial Hotsync Cable connected to my Palm device. If you could find a Serial Data Cable that will fit the V3, it might work. I don't recall if the Razr has an IR port...? WyreNut

Hello thepoeta15 and WyreNut:
First of all, thanks a lot for taking the time to chip in. Much appreciated.

Quite so ... On one hand RS-232 to Bluetooth dongles are a rather expensive proposition which may not even work, as Palm implemented a non-standard implementation of DTR in the Palm III series port, ie.: 3.0 volts in normal mode (instead of 0.0v) and 6.0 volts in Hotsync mode. On the other hand, the object to this 'experiment' is to avoid using additional and expensive hardware while keeping my much loved PIIIxe.

It's a local carrier ('local' to me is Buenos Aires, AR). That's not a problem, at least for the time being. Like I mentioned in my post, I can 'dial up' to my ISP with my desktop PC using the V3 (GSM) and the USB data cable, using it in lieu of a regular modem. I am not using the GPRS option so there are no extra 'data' charges (as far as I know).
I'd say that the biggest hurdle is to be able to match the Palm IIIxe's serial port voltage levels and the V3's mini-USB port's voltage levels.

Yes, first thing I did.

No luck ... It seems there was one (not confirmed) but to date I have not been able to find such an animal. And Motorola has been of no help at all.
No, the V3 does not have IR, just USB and Blootooth.
Any further input will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
M.
