Each time I try to setup synch for my Treo 755p with my new Windows 7 laptop using Palm Desktop 6.2 installer the installation errors at "Device driver installation unsuccessful" right after the Palm Desktop vs. Outlook 2007 choice. When I then try to synch the HotSync window does not popup to indicate all the sync activities occurring. I previously also upgraded the Outlook 2007 conduits and the Sprint Desktop updater.

Bottom line - can't get the device driver for Win 7 to install. Ideas? Thanks folks. - pkacik

Assuming the Windows 7 desktop is a 32 bit there is not much of a reason that the drivers would not install. All driver related issues that I've seen crop up are due to the OS being 64 bit. Palm does manufacture any any drivers for a 64 bit variant thus it won't work through USB. There is an extensive thread that details information on how to perform a Bluetooth sync as that doesn't use Palm drivers instead relies on the Bluetooth drivers.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for my omitting that this *is* a 64 bit Windows 7 installation running with 4 megs RAM and a T6600 Intel Core 2 Duo Toshiba laptop. Any ideas? - pkacik

I have the same issue with my 700p.  Using Windows 7 on laptop.  Tried to download hotsync 6.2 to no avail.  Plug usb in and get a constant ping.

With a 64bit OS your only option is to sync via Bluetooth. If your computer doesn't come with Bluetooth you will need to purchase a dongle that has drivers that support Windows 7.
