I set up a Palm Pre today to a hosted Exchange (EAS) account. While email items and folders were still downloading and syncing up for the first time, I was able to enter the email application on the Palm Pre and see email in the Inbox and folders both inside and outside of the inbox. However later on, while mail was still being synced and update (there was a very large volume of mail to sync) I was no longer able to see folders, only the Inbox and items in the Inbox. The Pre was acting sluggish and nonresponsive. I tapped the envelope icon to open email and I could see the Favorites title bar and Exchange title bar. Under Exchange I could see the Inbox (and that took several taps to show it) but no other folders besides Inbox. There were other folders to include user created folders as well as Outbox, Deleted, etc..... Any ideas? Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Have you tried to remove the account and add it back in? Also is there any way move email from your inbox to limit the large amount of mail the device is syncing?

Yes, believe me, since this post was posted on 11/2 (it's now 11/11), we have done it all. We have been on with Palm Support Level 3 several times for hours at a time. They finally gave up and sent the guy back to Sprint to get a new phone. He got the new phone and it still did not work. I have been reading a lot about this issue and it sounds just like the problems users experienced before Web OS 1.2.1 came out. I even found a post where the guy said he had the problem, upgraded to 1.2.1 and STILL had the problem. It sounds to me like this is another situation where that is the case. e are on 1.2.1. by the way. The settings are correct. We've done them all many, many times at this point. I have verified the Exchange server is also correct and I have another device (not Palm thank god) that is receiving mail just fine from it. Sounds like an EAS issue to me. What else could it be??? It's not the device, it's not the server, EAS is what is in between. We've done everything else.I'm suggesting that the customer configure the device to receive mail via POP from the server. At least if that work he would be able to use it. Or, that perhaps he switch to a phone that actually works, like mine, the HTC Touch Pro 2. I gave up on Palm after I got sick of the Treo 600 not working very well.

Have you updated the device to 1.3.1? Then see if the email folders appear?

Hello, Yes I did, and thanks for replying. The things is, I set up another email account on that same Pre device. That other email account resides on the same server as the account I've been having trouble with. This other account worked great. Email flowed in, contacts flowed in, no problems at all. I also set up the problem account on another phone (non Palm phone) and the email, contacts, and calendar items came in equally fine. So, I have 2 email account and 2 phones. One email account works on both phones, no problem. One email account that only works on the phone that isn't a Palm. My question to Palm Support was, is it possible that this one email account simply has more data in it then the Pre can handle? The ost file 2.25 GB. It's the only thing I can imagine being the problem. We have proved it is not the phone itself cause another email account works on it. We have proved it is not the server because both email account sync just fine with server when using a different phone. So what is the difference between all things??? The only difference I can find is that one email account is rather large, and it doesn't work on the Palm Pre. So it has to be that the Palm Pre just cannot handle that much data. Would you agree with that assessment? I appreciate you getting back with me, and I hope you read this tonight and can respond. I have until Thursday morning to figure this out before having to make another decision. Thanks

That could cause it. Is there any way for you to export that ost file out and place a blank one in? Or at least remove a bulk of the mail and then remove the account restart the device and add the account back in? This would rule out account corruption. While everything on the server and pre are fine could be too much data or the account is corrupted on the server and not sending the correct data. Message Edited by thepoeta15 on 11/17/2009 07:29 PM

That would be the next logical course, yes, I agree. I think that is the only way to prove or disprove the amount of data as being the cause. And it will be an interesting test too. I'll update with the results. Thank you!!!
