Zire 72 takes forever to charge, loses charge quickly

The subject line says it all -- it appears that after 4 years of heavy use, the battery in my Zire 72 is at the end of its life. Is there any way to obtain a replacement battery? Is replacing the battery recommended? I don't see an easy way to get to it.

Thanks,

~~Cheryl

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.

You can buy a replacement battery here.  The  should also be able to do the replacement for you if you don't want to try opening it up yourself.  The site has repair directions (see the link near the top of the page), but it does not specifically list the Zire 72.

usedpdaparts.com also offers replacement batteries. They charge a really moderate fee over the battery price to do the install for you.

Search Palm's Knowledge Library and your User Guide (on the install CD).

That repair fee is usually around 10-15 bucks, and that includes shipping.
