Windows Vista won't install device driver for Palm Centro

My Windows Vista PC can't seem to find the device driver info to install my new Palm Centro.  I've downloaded the latest version of Palm software.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Which version of Vista do you have?  32bit or 64bit?

64bit cannot sync via a cable - only via a wireless method (BlueTooth or IR).

I am having the same problem - my computer can't find the device driver (Windows Vista) but I DO have bluetooth installed and visible.  Can you help?!  I am really not very good with technical things, but I've done a tone of research and haven't been able to solve the problem.

Thanks in advance!

Read through the several large threads at the top of this section concerning syncing with Vista64...

Re: Windows Vista won't install device driver for Palm Centro

Hey All,

If you have Windows Vista 64bit your palm desktop cannot doesn't support connection via hotzync cable. Get your self a bluetooth adapter and it'll work. I just did that today and it works like a charm with one exception though - IT IS VERY SLOW  via bluetooth.

Just wanted to share this with fellow users b/c I know this was an important issue for me.

Good Luck

I am SO frustrated!!  Like I said, I have bluetooth installed and visible, and I still can't get it to work.  The response from WyreNut really was NO HELP and made me more infuriated.  I should never have bought a Palm.

[ Edited ]

Hi,

Have you managed to sync yet? If not, have you tried the following instructions from Palm? I have the Centro from Sprint and other than the fact that it is dog slow doing the sync, it does work following their instructions.  Let me know either way, if you got it working or if you still need help. My apologies, I forgot to attach the instructional link. http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/49229_en.html

Have a better day.
