Palm Pre Overheating and Battery Dies in 3 hours stand by

Help!

My Palm Pre gets incredibly hot while just in stand by.  Plus, it won't last on STAND BY for more than 3 hours!  I don't even use it and it dies in 3 hours.

This doesn't sound right.  Does anyone know what's going on?  I've tried restarting it and recharging, etc., nothing makes it any better.

Please help!  Or is my Pre defective?

Mine is doing the same thing, I charged it all night, and went from 100% battery to 80% in about 45 minutes.I am now at 50% and it's barely 2.5 hours into the day.

At least you may get 5 hours of stand by (which still stinks).  I only have 2.5 hours from 100% to 5% and shutdown.  I called sprint and they said it was a battery problem, but I don't really have any solutions.

Unbelieveably, I just spoke to Sprint and they basically said I was out of luck until more Pre's come available.  What a piece of crap.  I can't believe I left my blackberry for this.  Never again.  This is the worse device and customer support EVER.

They have to fix this, it's becoming too huge an issue on the internet. Palm and Sprint can't have this much bad pub.

I agree, I'm going out to a SPrint store right now where there's a Palm rep and get them to tell me what I should do about this.  I'm THIS CLOSE to reactivating my T-Mobile account.  So far, neither Palm nor Sprint have offerred me ANY solutions.  Terrible.

Having the same problem with the battery life of my less than 24 hours new palm pre, I went to bed at 4 am with 100 % of battery charge, and I woke up at 10 am and my palm pre was completely dead, also when it’s charging overheats to the point I’m afraid is going to explode, I’m so disappointed I changed my Palm Treo 755p that was way more efficient than my pre cell phone.

Folks, just to troubleshoot a little here, have you all updated your phones to OS version 1.02, or are some of you still using 1.01?

Did the problems appear after you updated?

Re: Palm Pre Overheating and Battery Dies in 3 hours stand by

I checked for updates yesterday at 5 PM and there were no updates.  When did the update come out?

I went to a sprint store and spoke to a Palm rep.  He told me that if you don't fully charge your phone before you start using it then it could kill the battery and he gave me a new battery.  But I actually did charge it up when I got home.  I'm trying the new battery now, but it doesn't seem any better.  Sigh.  This is terrible.

Having the same problem on my Palm Pre.  Phone was fully charged before I did the update and it got so hot that when it was charging I unplugged it to let it cool down for a bit.  Finally got it charged 100% and battery draings in less than 2hrs. of use.  Hope they come up with a fix/solution for this soon or my phone may be going back.  It's also crashed on me 6 times in less than 24hrs. and I've had to re-sync it w/ my outlook each time, taking another 7 -10mins to complete and then having to re-enter all my speed dials again.  Very frustrating!  Does anyone have a solution?
